I am one of those “crazy” pet people. I’ll admit that – I’m not embarrassed of it. And that’s why the prospect of losing my Betsy a couple months back crushed my heart like a rotten tomato being run over by a tractor.
That’s not an exaggeration. I love my dog, Betsy, and my cat more than I love most people. My cat, Emma-Lou, lays on me and purrs like a motorboat even on my worst days, and my dog, Betsy, is always by my side. People come and go, but nothing beats the loyalty of our four-legged companions. They’re family.
Now Betsy especially—she’s my soul-mate dog. I’ve had so many pets over the years (dogs and cats and even a couple rabbits), but something about Betsy is just like no other. We look into each other’s eyes and there is just an implicit understanding between us. Our gazes meeting together say, “I see you, I love you, I’m there for you.” It makes my heart ache with love just thinking of it.
Betsy is here by my side as I write this, and every once in a while, I give her a little pat and she gives me a little thump of her stubby tail. But for a while there, I was worried I was going to have to say goodbye to Betsy before her time—well, more like, before I was ready.
Betsy’s age has always been a mystery to me. I got Betsy when she was already an adult dog from the animal shelter. I had gone a few years without a pet because I didn’t feel I had the time, but I had just lost my mom who I was caretaking for and I felt it was time to get a dog (sometimes I think my mom sent Betsy to me to help take care of me). I don’t know what breed Betsy is, but I like to say she’s 100% a purebred good-girl. From the day I got her, she had the aura of an “old soul” but the animal shelter said she was just two or three, so I really don’t know what to believe.
Anyway, I’d had Betsy for about 10 years, when she started slowing down. She still had her zest for life, she still would hop up, wagging her tail like crazy when I asked her if she wanted to go for a walk, but her hops were lower and she started slowing down during our walks, not wanting to go as far.
To combat her aging body, I tried my best to get Betsy the best food. (I even started cooking for her!), the best supplements, and get her as much exercise as she could handle.
But you can’t stop time, no matter how hard you try. A couple years on, Betsy only wanted to take a very slow stroll around the block.
And then…she didn’t want to go for any walk at all. Her hips wobbled and her legs trembled. It got to the point where she’d only get up to eat and go outside to potty. It seemed like she was waiting to die.
I knew that maybe it was time to think about saying goodbye then, but I couldn’t bare the thought. She still wagged her tail when it was mealtime. And she still enjoyed getting pets.
But when her brain started following her body…I started to question if I was just keeping her around for my own selfishness while she suffered.
Basically, she started getting real anxious at night. Pacing around, panting, barking at her own shadow. It was ruining her own sleep, my sleep, and worst of all, my neighbor complained too.
After many nights (and days) spent hugging Betsy and sobbing my eyes out, ginally, reluctantly, I brought her to the vet to ask if it was time. The vet was a different vet than my usual vet because my usual vet was all booked up. To this day, I thank my lucky stars that my usual vet was busy because otherwise, who knows what would have happened to Betsy?
Both Betsy and I immediately liked the new vet, Dr.John Davis. It was funny that Betsy liked him because she normally gets nervous around strangers.
Betsy showed very little reaction to being examined and ate the treat out of his hand no problem.
“Arthritis, old age, bad joints, bad hips, maybe a touch of sundowners and dog dementia,” Dr.Davis noted. “The saddest part of owning pets is that they live such short lives.”
“Do you think it’s time to put her down then?” I asked, trying to keep the sob out of my voice.
Dr.Davis looked up at me sharply, “No, of course not. She’s still got a few more good years in her!”
I argued that she seemed depressed, anxious, and in pain. But Dr.Davis just shook his head.
“You haven't tried Relievet yet, have you?”
“Relieve-what?” I replied.
“Relievet,” Dr. Davis smiled. “They’re the only pet C.B.D. company I know of that actually makes C.B.D. for pets following the research and giving pets science-backed doses.”
“Wait, what?” I asked, skeptical. “Isn’t C.B.D. going to get my dog high? I don’t want to get my dog high!”
Dr.Davis laughed, “No, not Relievet. They remove every trace of the psychoactive components from their products, leaving only the anti-inflammatory, anti-pain, anti-aging, anti-anxiety components behind. Truthfully, other companies do sometimes get pets high, which can trigger panic attacks in something like 10% of animals—and I would never recommend to an animal that already has anxiety like Betsy because it might only make it worse.
“And other companies don't always use scientifically backed dosing based on an animal's weight, that’s why I only feel comfortable recommending Relievet. They have their results on their website, and I’ve talked to the CEO personally about any questions I have – it’s a small American company with old-fashioned values so he handles most of the customer service himself.”
“The CEO answers customers himself?” I asked, surprised. I’d never heard of a pet company where the owner actually cared that much about customers.
“Yep!” Dr.Davis assured me. “His name is Chris. He’s determined to help as many pet owners as possible so he works with customers to find out what product is best for their pet and offers an unlimited money-back guarantee. On top of that, he offers the best prices in the industry so he can help as many pets as possible. Though sometimes I have to explain that to people because it is easy to get tricked by a product that looks cheaper on the surface but contains a lot less C.B.D.”
I pet Betsy behind the ears and she didn’t even bother wagging her tail. “That all seems nice and all, but would Relievet really help Betsy? She’s so old and got so much wrong with her.”
Dr.Davis nodded enthusiastically, “The amazing part about broad spectrum C.B.D. (the type that Relievet uses) is there was a study where they gave it to worms their entire lives and the worms lived 18% longer. Now, that doesn’t mean for sure that it would make a pet live 18% longer but I’m convinced it won’t hurt and can really help. I give Relievet to my puppy and all three of my cats everyday.”
He went on explaining, “C.B.D. attaches to the endocannabinoid system in the body, bringing it back into balance. Long story short, that balances the sympathetic nervous system, promotes healing, and relieves anxiety, pain, and inflammation. There’s a lot more science to it and Relievet publishes all the science on their website. They’ve got over a hundred blogs up explaining pet C.B.D. and all kinds of pet ailments.”
He finished with, “I can’t say for sure it will help Betsy, but I think it’s worth a try. You’ve got nothing to lose--they have a money-back guarantee.”
Me and Betsy went home with renewed hope, but to tell the truth, I still didn’t fully trust that Relievet would work for us, so I decided to look at the reviews first.
Here are a few of them I read on Google:

I was shocked to see that they have a 5 out of 5 stars on Google reviews! They also have a 5 out of 5 on the BBB, a 5 out of 5 on Facebook and a 4.8 on their website with over 350 reviews.
It was hard to believe because I’d never seen a business so well-reviewed, but I’d also seen plenty of the reviews mentioning the personal touch of the owner, Chris, so I guessed it made sense. You just don’t hear about businesses caring that much about their customers nowadays. Or caring that much in general! On his website, you can even see a picture of him making the products himself.
Seeing the quality of the products, all those reviews, and the money-back guarantee, I knew I had to give Relievet a try for Betsy. This was our last chance.
I ordered the chews and the oil. They arrived two days later with packaging that would be fit for sending expensive pottery.

It also came with a cute little fridge magnet, a flier explaining exactly how to use them, and a note from their CEO thanking me for choosing them! I was impressed to see it truly was a small business, giving each customer personal attention.
Just holding the glass dropper bottle and the chew jar in my hands, I knew that I was holding a special product. It was nicer that the container most human food come in! I could tell right away that I would be saving the jar when it was empty to because it was such a nice one.
Of course, the real test was how Betsy would respond. She ate up the chews enthusiastically, and even starting drooling, begging for more.
I gave her the lowest dose of the oil next ands he wasn’t as happy about that as the chews, but she was still okay with me putting it under her tongue in the side of her mouth like Dr.Davis told me to.
Next, I sat and waited. And waited. I watched her for the next hour and nothing happened, but what did I expect? Dr.Davis warned me that sometimes it works right away but sometimes it takes a few days to see results.
The next few days, on schedule, morning and night, I gave her the Relievet.
At first the changes in Betsy were subtle, and I thought I was imagining them or they were a coincidence. She stopped panting at night. She seemed calmer during the day.
Then she did something she hadn’t done for months—she leaned against the front door and looked at me. This was always Betsy’s sign that she wanted to go for a walk. I looked at her in shock, “You want to go for a walk, girl?” I asked.
In response, she wagged her tail, gave a little hop, and barked.
My heart just about fell out of my chest in joy.
The real kicker that proved to me that Relievet works is when I went out of town for a week and left Betsy at a dog boarder. I forgot to bring the Relievet with me for the boarder to give to her, so she didn’t get dosed for a week.
When I picked her up, she was back to being that rickety, depressed, slow old dog she had been before I started giving her Relievet.
Now I hope to have a good few more years with Betsy, and it’s all thanks to Relievet. I’m grateful for every extra day I get with her.
Seeing how well Relievet worked for Betsy, I decided to get the cat treats for my cat, Emma-Lou because she has always been a bit of an anxious cat when it comes to getting her claws clipped. I followed the instructions on the jar and gave her a high dose because I was using the treats for a one-time anxiety event. Emma-Lou looked at the treats suspiciously, but finally she ate them, and then purred, asking for more. I waited about an hour to make sure the treats took effect, then went to clip her nails. Normally, I can only clip one nail at a time before she attacks me or runs away, but to my absolute shock, she let me do a whole foot before struggling to escape! And best of all, this time she didn’t freak out and scratch me. (I didn’t want to push it, so I let her run away then, but it wasn’t nearly as much of a struggle as normal to clip all her nails.)
I emailed the CEO Chris, to thank him for creating such great products, and to tell him I was planning on writing a blog post about his products.
He responded personally, first he thanked me for telling him all about Betsy and Emma-Lou. Then he thanked me for writing a blog post, and gave me a discount code to share with our readers!
